Be careful watching this movie. It is a deep psychological twister. I watched it twice, back to back in one night and I woke the next morning a little twisted. (and I'm not like that) It actually affected me in a negative manner..... and I say that as a good thing. The movie has impact..... and in today's movie world... that's saying a lot. This is one very twisted movie and every actor/actress nailed it! If you are an amateur student of the mental...... you will get twisted over this movie.

A great warning of the pain in our spciety to come, as no one is listening to the downtrodden and those driven insane by society. Arthur Fleck was simply trying to get by in a society that has no rpom for people with malfunctions, that can't just pretend that everything is okay. He, im an instant, lost his safety, and next his stability with the loss of his job, which in turn was caused by his need for a firearm due to being jumped and charged for the broken sign. Much like modern day young men, Arthur finds out his life was a lie and decides to just be himselfand stops obeying societies rules.

Bought this in July 2023. Digital copy code had expired in 12/31/2021. Not a huge deal since I got it mainly for the UHD Blu-ray, but still isn't great since it's advertised as including a digital copy.

Joker has always been bigger and beyond reality, but this, this makes him whole. It was astonishing, I thought this would be terrible, but it was honestly quite great. Its cringey, as it should be, given the character this is meant to portray. Its perfect.Would blow me away if this was the joker that met the Robert Pattinson variant of Batman, as they would honestly go together like pickles and strawberries, seriously give it a try.A truly perfect match up.

It's a good movie. The main character is a good actor. I feel he did okay everywhere in the film. But it was too long, too depressing, too dark. I could have come away understanding about him with less of all that, being an intelligent and sensitive person. I have so many questions though. Is he going to be in a movie with Batman ever? That would make him in his 60's for that to happen based on this movie. I would not be interested in a Joker2 if it's just more and expanded of the same. It felt like an alternate universe almost with different origin's ... the Wayne's were never killed by a clown for example. So, basically I can see it was a good movie, but it was really not for me. Right after I paid the $6 and saw how depressing of a time I was in for, I knew I was screwed. But I soldiered on and made it through it, with the help of bathroom and kitchen breaks. A couple times I didn't even pause the movie when I left the room, just saying oh more bad stuff that I will miss, but I was only gone a couple minutes.

Phoenix turns in what I consider a great performance, even surpassing " The Master ".The political allegories are subtle but they're there and should be watched along with Scorsese's " King of Comedy ".

This movie is a masterpiece. The story was very well written and all the actors were great. Joaquin Phoenix, is one of my favorite actors and he gave such a masterful performance in this film. There were moments I actually felt bad for his character, Arthur. To this day, I still don't understand the controversy surrounding this film. Overall, while this is a great film, just be warned that this isn't a typical comic book movie. It's very realistic and gritty.

The movie captures the essence of American culture after almost four years of Trump as president: any kind of acting out of hatred goes nowaways. I absolutely loved the spin on the "Bruce Wayne poor little rich boy" story: this is both a deconstruction and a demystification of the tale told by Burton's 1989 "Batman." Now we see the face of the richest in society as twisted, evil and sadistic, while the poorest are alienated, gaunt and hopeless, and have responded to the hatred and the violence in kind. The American family is based on a lie and is totally dysfunctional; it is common practice to make fun of people in cruel ways; there is no place for the dispossessed to go but to the filthiest and ugliest slums; real love and caring is nothing but a fantasy. This Gotham City seems a lot more accurate in its dystopian filth. This is where we are now living in America. Kudos go out to everyone who worked on this project, and especially to the brilliant Phoenix and the brilliant Phillips who both recognize that "systemic racism," as Phoenix called it during his acceptance speech at the Oscars for best actor, or "white supremacy" to give voice to its genuine name, is what keeps our society dysfunctional, alienated, violent and insane.
