A gripping drama based on an ill-fated true story. The film is known by the title ‘Kursk’ in Europe, and the fact that it was changed here in the States is senseless.

This movie set me on a string of documentaries about the Kursk sinking, it’s a fascinating story i knew nothing about prior and the raising deserves a movie of its own. However the sinking and disaster for both the crew on boards and the families, as well as politically for the country makes for an engaging watch. It’s well portrayed, well acted and with with good effects and sets. The explosion and sinking look convincing and suspense is high, and remains high throughout the movie. Now obviously with (spoilers) the crew not having any survivors but knowing they where inside for at least a few days means that their story inside is almost all fiction, however as much information on what happened inside is used here, such as the fire set that would have burned them and consumed their oxygen, and the note written by an officer. It’s a heartbreaking ending when the divers open the flooded hatch and drop the glow stick in to illuminate the dead bodies. It’s a good movie however, very Interesting and not just for people who like military movies, it’s a great drama and even touching story about the families of the lost.

I watched this on Netflix, good acting very suspenseful and the very sad. The production was good very suspenseful even though we all know what happened in at the end. There are things locked out in the show but overall very well written account and needs to be shown to everybody is a cautionary Tale. I wish they kept the title the Kursk.
