The Mummy

So I was prepared for this to be awful and it actually wasn't half bad. Now don't misunderstand me it wasn't Wonder Woman good or Marvel good but it was better than Justice League. And much better than League of Extraordinary Men. There was a lot crammed into this movie and it shows. (maybe for the next one don't introduce so many story lines? And maybe have the cast be just a bit diverse? I mean literally the first person that we see die is the black guy.... Trope much.)I gave it 4 stars because I see the potential.

Wanted to test full OLED TV

Not a fantastic movie but not horrible either. The biggest thing that bothered me was that for such a big production, they confused their Egyptian Gods. Anubis was the God of Death, not Set.If you look at this as it's own stand alone movie and not a remake of the original, it's really not that bad of a movie. I wasn't the biggest fan of Tom Cruise in this film though. He character was lacking something and I don't quite know what it was.Either way, it was worth watching at least once.

Watched it to enjoy something different.For me it was the right kind of adventure for a Monday night. Tom Cruise did good as usual. If you think the gal playing the mummy needed a bigger role....just look back at previous movies called the The Mummy/Mummy Returns with Brendan Fraser... THE MUMMY (1999) Arnold Vosloo played an excellent mummy & his role wasn't hugely into speaking....just killing people who were cursed to come back to life to raise his dead girlfriend.....He didn't get overly involved until the second film The Mummy Returns (2001). Last time I checked, mummy's never did a whole lot of talking.

I guess some of the Mummy purists who gave this film a bad rating would probably say that my Wife and I are easily entertained based on some of thier reviews. However, we both felt that this film, Tom Cruise and all the actors brought a different twist to a story that has been told many times before.We did not feel cheated that we paid a rental fee to watch this 3 year old version and definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a few hours of great special effects and the type of action you will always get in a film with Tom Cruise.

I truely did not expect to love this movie. I was very pleasantly suprised. So much of what people are complaining about is due to a lack of understanding that they A: Are not trying to remake the Brendan Frasier Mummy and...B: That this is set to be the first of MANY movies. Hence characters and refrences that seem like they don't belong. I thought it was a fun take on the genre, which has a nasty habbit of getting stale, and I was most certainly entertained. I liked the subtle nods to previous films. Plus, I couldn't stop laughing the first time TC saw the skulls. Great nod to movies yet to come and a role that Tom once played all at once. I think if watched with the right view point, this movie could entertain everybody.

If i didnt dislike tom cruise so much it would have been even better, but his acting is so one dimensional and plain. I highly doubt they will actually get the second movie. I think it wouldnt have been so much of a flop if they had managed to 1. Get someone other that cruise, like a young up and coming actor. 2. Not centered the follow thru of the plot as a love conquers all because it wasnt very believable that they 'loved' each other that much. Now if he hadnt brought his buddy back to life with his life giving power I would have been super PO'd.

I was expecting the worst with all of the reviews. Overall I found this movie entertaining. It might not be the Mummy version of Mission Impossible but I thought it was better done than the previous Mummy series with Brenden Fraser (though I liked that too). I think that if you go in with the thought that this is not a serious movie and is supposed to be a bit corny at times (like the previous series) you are all good. The characters were enjoyable and I liked the bouncing between the ancient egypt and modern England. I would have like a bit more flash back in to how they contained the princess and that whole story.

This movie is a typical Tom Cruse balls to the wall action movie. Heavy on the computer generated graphics, it is an Indiana Jones type of "always running from something" movie. I do give kudos to the writers for trying to create a movie that captures the original mummy movie feel. Instead of being the calculating in charge character that Tom played in the Mission Impossible movies, he plays a character that seems to be carried along through the film as a victim of circumstances. Nicely done but a little over the top.
