Loved this movie ever since seeing it in the theater.Very tightly edited. No dead spots.Moves at a brisk pace.Great action sequences.Innovative visual effects.Once every hundred years,Hollywood comes up with a unique story.Much better than these unwatchable CGI abused movies that have become the norm for Hollywood. This movie is actually filmed in a real jungle with real helicopters and real people.Imagine that!

I saw Predator in theaters back and the 80s (then on VHD and DVD) and it didn't look or sound as great as the Blu Ray. The remastering looks great, looks like a new film with young cast. There's a spot where Carl's Weathers looks a bit airbrushed when they meet with the General( less then a minute mostly due to his tone in a dark hit I guess). The 3D version is great too. For the most part it's very well done, here and there the prospective distance seems to me off a bit... Not wrong off a bit... But it's a very small amount of time in the total film. The audio is great, and regardless of which version you watch (SD, HD 2D or 3d) you'll be pleased... Unless your one of those snobs that are never happy.

1987’s Predator is a must watch for all Schwarzenegger fans! It’s got enough action to keep everyone satisfied and (uniquely) portrays an intelligent protagonist able to think outside the box. It’s a great movie!

What Sigourney Weaver and Ridley Scott did with the masterpiece Alien, Arnold Schwarzenegger did with predator. What space did for the aliens, the jungle did for the predators. An atmospheric sci-fi horror film. The last of its kind. A true masterpiece and treasure. A gem. A 10 out of 10. It truly saddens me when people think of the franchise as a whole they think of only the mediocre sequels and not the original. I hope someday we get a continuation with Dutch Arnold's character.

Obviously you'd need to be an Arnold fan, and love Predator for the classic it is. If you do, and you have a 4K UHD DVD player with a good surround system, then this is totally worth the money. It will bring out the best your system has to offer (it goes to eleven . . . one louder) and enable you to immerse yourself fully in the over-the-top action!

The opinions presented in the various reviews regarding the quality of the transfer of this (1987) film to DVD span the full range from horrible to excellent. My comments are based on the 2-disc "Widescreen Collector's Edition" of "Predator". The format of this edition is anamorphic widescreen which was also enhanced for 16 x 9 aspect ratio screens since the picture fills the entire TV screen. For the most part, the transfer of sound and picture is excellent. The only problem is that the video transfer is not consistently excellent. Most of the scences look crystal sharp with great color on my large-screen, high-definition LCD TV (played on a Toshiba 1080p HD DVD player--the "upconversion" helps)--but then there are short segments (a few seconds here and there) where the image becomes suddenly quite grainy--but, since most of these grainy segments are night scences, the problem is not too obvious. Most of the night scenes, however, are crystal clear and sharp with fantastic contrast. Luckily, the grainy segments are very brief in duration and do not really detract from the overall entertainment value of the movie.Nonetheless, this exciting, suspenseful, classic Arnold film deserves a high-definition remastering.
