Amelie

As someone who rarely watches a movie twice and buys them even less often, i saw this movie twice in the theater and will be buying the dvd. The movie is fast paced and has a wonderful assortment of sub-plots, and is just so crammed full you have to watch it more than once to absorb it all. I do not get everyones referance to ally mcbeal- seems like comparing an exquisite french delight to hostess ho-ho's. This is an extrodinary film - i will be sending the dvd out to my friends and family for birthdays and Christmas presents. It's hard to pick a favorite scene as there are SO many but, without blowing it for you, its the one with Amelie and the blindman. I cant wait to see the dvd version with the extra scenes, screen tests etc.

This is a magical French film full of quirkiness and surprises. Audrey Tautou is perfect as the clever, mischevious puppeteer who lovingly meddles in the lives of those around her. The setting (Paris) is so beautiful and the camera work and directing are so interesting. Amalie is so pretty and lovable I could not take my eyes off her. Be warned-if you are not mature enough to tolerate subtitle while listening to the beautiful French language, don't bother watching.

I first saw this movie when it was released back in 2001 and always remembered how much I enjoyed it then. I enjoyed it just as much the second time around. I love the quirky surreal imagery of the film and it really is a funny, feel good movie. Audrey Tautou is wonderful and adorable in this film.

wonderful product. one of my absolute favorite movies and i recommend it to everyone. make sure you are fluent in french if you buy this version. more importantly, make sure you have a special dvd player that can play foreign dvds. if you don't, you can change the region on your computer. some computers only let you change the region a limited number of times, but i think you can purchase software that overcomes this. but again, see this movie. it will change your life!

Yes . . . there is a moral of story in Amelie. Loved the way the Director introduced the characters, as well as objects. Any-who-or-what's-it, back to the moral of the story: There's no question that patience if a virtue; however, don't wait too long 'cause sometime the moment will pass you by. Highly recommend it for any level of entertainment. I'll nicely stow this movie in one of my top ten story tellers' sojournies . . . ranks right-up there with Silver Linings Playbook, When Hairy met Sally and Sleepless in Seatle, but with better FX.

A film about the anomie and search for meaning and happiness in a modern urban setting. Many excellent character studies by supporting cast and the tale of Amelie at it's core. Audrey Tautou is remarkable and possessor of probably the most mischievous grin in captivity. Great Parisian locations and a plot that moves along nicely. I chose Blu-ray version for better picture detail and durability because I will probably watch this film many times. There is more to this film than just the humor but even on that level alone it is exceptional.

Thus film is sweet, charming, upbeat, romantic, definitely unique, and filled with scenes of Paris -- What's not to like? The cinematography is unusual, with many extreme close-up with wide angle lenses, and with what looks like some artificially altered lighting colors. But the light is part of the mood. I had seen it once when it came out, and had forgotten most of the details. When I saw it again on (via my Roku) this week, I was completely charmed. Great movie!

I love this movie. It is charming. Ive seen it over the years three times now, and loved it each time. I will watch it again too. The character of Amelie is so sweet, yet mischievous, and cute too. You cant help but love her. Great cast as well. The French have a way of making some very strange and magical films without using so much special effects, car chases, explosions etc that you find in American films. A must see movie.

A film which could only have come from France. Filled with average characters who, at their deepest levels, are extraordinary. Amelie has been alone for most of her life. Her father, self absorbed to begin with, on the death of his wife, becomes completely inaccessible. One day Amelie discovers a loose tile in her bathroom filled with someone's childhood memorabilia. She then decides that, if she can find the owner and if it makes his life better, she will devote herself to helping others. Grace, irony and love ensue.

This is a fabulous film, a tender and funny love story, with plenty of great French characters. The only negative -- and it a big one for someone who has trouble reading subtitles -- is that there is absolutely no reason why they can't dub the narration in English or whatever language.Oh, and Audrey Tautou is cute and sexy.
