This redeemed the franchise from the other shaky-cam, McGuffin-driven combat disaster movies. Its not moment-after-moment of unrecognizable combat, but the development of the relationship between an alien and a teenage girl, the ET of the 21st century! Set in the Eighties, it has a real retro vibe, similar to Stranger Things, with a flawed main character, the girl Charlie, who is seeking validation and finds it with Bumblebee, on a new but familiar character arc from the original movies. Plus, what I really appreciate, is that they don't sexualize her: she is a moody teenager, full of flaws, and romance and sex vamping and not necessary to draw in the audience. A good, fun story.

Little skeptical about this movie after I gave up watching the Michael Bay's Transformers, but reading the reviews honestly made me give it a go. Than up pops the opening scene on Cybertron! Man all the nostalgia just hit me knew this one had a different feel for a Transformers movie. What an amazing ride it was, so much emotion that made me feel like I was 9 again watching the series as a kid. Hailee Steinfeld take a bow good stuff and Bumblebee the hero we always knew he was! Hopefully we get another one or one about the war on Cybertron would be epic!

Compared to the rest of the Series, this seems rather elemental and elementary in nature. The cast is just adequate but the CG is better than adequate and the plot fits the rest of the series in theme. I have watched it a couple of times and find they could have done better overall. But, as a prequel, the plot adequately fills the roll and I have to give it a four as I can't quite get a five out of it.

I grew up with the G1 Transformers toys and cartoon, couldn't get past the 1st lousy Michael Bay movie. This is what they should have been from the start. Fun, touching, funny, good action, robots that don't look like insects. I wasn't expecting to like this movie and was pleasantly surprised at how well done it was. Nice VFX, surround, and gave my subwoofers a solid workout. My only knock on the movie is John Cena hamming it up with his character. Too over the top.

I enjoyed this more than all of the other Transformer movies. It had a good story, action that was easy to follow, and great effects. The other movies suffer from too much going on visually. This was much easier to follow, and captured the spirit of the Transformers. The main actress did a great job. As did her sidekick. I cared about the characters, including Bumblebee. It’s a “solo” Transformers movie that goes perfectly with a bottle of soda and popcorn. I’ve seen it twice and both times It was just as good.

This was a lot of fun and frankly, I was surprised as this type of film is not something that usually fits my eye. A really great cast, combined with a story that satisfies and some action set pieces made this something that the kids and the adults enjoyed. It's PG 13, but it's for the action parts and frankly I think kids well under 13 will be ok. I haven't seen any other of the Transformer films, but glad I caught this!
