If you think a UHD disc is going to give you enhanced sound over Blu-ray, think again. The sound is great, but I didn’t notice any difference between the audio bit rate on the UHD vs a Blu-ray disc. Where you might notice some difference is in the clarity of the picture. And while it’s better, it’s not exceptionally better. All in all, Deepwater Horizon looks great and sounds good on a home theater system.

I work in the energy industry (not specifically offshore drilling) so I'm aware of much of the terminology and technology used throughout the movie. I wanted to get a better understanding of exactly what happened and this film (assuming the facts are correct) provided a pretty good overview of events (undoubtedly with some Hollywood mixed in). I found the movie held my interest throughout, but bear in mind this is depicting a great tragedy both with human loss and environmental impact. I would suspect that some viewers without any knowledge of how wells are drilled may find some aspects confusing, boring, or whatever. I personally found the film enlightening.

Pretty good movie. Not Wahlbergs best performance, but he did a good job (as he usually does). The effects were the best part of this movie. The realism in the CGI was really great, someone (probably many someone's) took a lot of time and put in a lot of effort to make it look VERY real. And the cast interaction with the CGI portion was seamless, so it made it entertaining.I did learn a lot about an event that was covered (I thought) pretty extensively in real time in the news when it was occurring. I didnt understand then what events lead to the catastrophe. I havent taken the time to go and research how true to the facts the movie was. If the event unfolded the way the movie portrayed it however, I learned a lot from watching it.I usually am not a huge fan of movies that cover a story I already know the ending to, and I also typically prefer a touch of Sci-Fi to movies (docu-drama is not my favorite genre), but this didnt disappoint in action.

If you have your theater room setup with proper size subwoofers (more than one is recommended) and at least 5.2.2 (7.2.4 would be awesome) this movie will show off your sound system!!! The underwater rumbling, explosions - lots of great Atmos content!

This is one of the precious few movies from that came unscathed! The movie itself, based on actual events, was excellent. Mark Wahberg and Kurt Russell portrayed their roles with their usual skill. This movie is a fitting tribute to the victims of this disaster. It also reflects corporate greed which often is sadly given precedence over human lives.Quite an emotional ride with excellent effects and well done in 4K.Well worth your time.

Huge fan of ‘based on true story’ films. Mark Wahlburg (as well as the other actors) is EXCELLENT in this movie!
