Exceptionally compelling narrative of a true event. Junger manages to teach physics, elucidate meteorology, narrate survivors, and imagine the experience of those he cannot interview because they perished. All the while, he uses deft description and easy diction and syntax. Highly recommended!

Outstanding movie. I am not going to rant about all of the good points. Rather I would just like to make a suggestion for those who have the DVD. If you have not done so, the film commentary by Sebastian Junger is probably the best commentary I have ever heard. Extremely informative.

This is one of my favorites!! I like that this movie shows us the big picture of the storm, including the fishing boat involved, the weather people, family, residents of the town the sailors are from, the coastguard, civilians out at sea, and so on. Great movie. Oh, and of course, Netflix didn't have it. So frustrating!! Thanks !!

One of my Top 10 movies of all time. Love any movies about the sea. This movie is one of the rare ones w/ perfect casting. EVERY character is memorable and "fits" the movie. Can't watch it enough. Side story about capsized sailboat is gripping too.

I spent most of my life in Florida, and lived through more monster hurricanes than I can count! This movie based on true events, shows the viewer just what it's like when the ocean turns violent! Great classic movie I have watched many times!
